The chapter started out as a new technology-focused Web Services Chapter in 2002. In 2006, the chapter was re-branded Service
Oriented Architecture (SOA) Chapter with an elevated focus on
architecture. Since then, the chapter had collaborated with the Infocomm
Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) and Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP)
to form the vendor-neutral NYP-SiTF SOA Centre; and in 2008 completed
interoperability testing of 60 industry projects.
In
2011, NYP and SiTF(now SGTech) embarked on a new chapter of collaboration with the
formalisation of the SiTF(now SGTech)-NYP Cloud Enablement Centre (CEC). The CEC
aims to foster adoption of Cloud Computing technology in the enterprise,
especially among Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SME) for improved
productivity, increased revenue and value-add to the business.
SOA has matured in the marketplace and Cloud Computing has emerged as the next logical step of progression. In
order for the chapter to continue to be the voice of industry for this
dynamic area and drive membership growth, a notion was put forward in
early 2010 and garnered its members support for the chapter to be
renamed Cloud Computing Chapter (CCC). The CCC will continue to address
the key issues in moving Cloud Computing to the next level of adoption
by the industry and businesses. The chapter will engage with the
infocomm community and end-user organizations in the following areas:
