Thailand: Fostering Stronger Public-Private Partnerships in the Internet of Things

Bangkok, Thailand, 25 July 2018 – SGTech successfully led 13 Singapore Tech companies to showcase their homegrown IoT solutions at the 26th Asia IoT Business Platform (and the 4th Annual Thailand edition) which was held in Intercontinental Bangkok, Thailand on 24 – 25 July 2018.

Focusing on discussions and dialogues between solution providers and Thailand end-users, the conference addresses key challenges and opportunities in implementing IoT in businesses in Thailand. For example, one opportunity is that the government is moving Thailand from a production-based to a higher value service-based economy, emphasizing on the promotion of technology and creativity to help the country to escape the middle income trap. In terms of a challenge, a keyword being repeated numerous times was that of manpower, wherein sentiments were echoed throughout the discussion on securing skilled manpower at an affordable cost, in view of Thailand's increasing cost of living. Exhibitors also gained interesting insights on this through panel discussions and talks that took place through the days.

SGTech led the Singapore Pavilion and the following exhibitors participated:

Overall, exhibitors echoed that there was a healthy and good mix of traffic flow from end-users to solution providers, and prospects and leads, and there were quite positive sentiments of future follow-ups amongst those who they had made contact with in view of Thailand's increasing push for technology in both public and private sector and their heightened purchasing power.

Further, there were also lengthy and meaningful conversations made during event breaks between exhibitors and visitors. This paves the way for continued dialogues to foster business partnership and opportunities within Thailand.

SGTech will continue to organise the Singapore Pavilion at the 2019 Thailand edition. Exhibitors in the Singapore Pavilion are assisted with the IMAP grant support from Enterprise Singapore under the Internationalisation scheme.

Participation in the pavilion is open to all Singapore technology companies. Interested companies, please contact info@sgtech.org.sg for details.
