Nongsa Digital Park Grand Opening 2018
On 20 March 2018, the inaugural opening of Nongsa Digital park was graced by Vivian Balakrishnan, Singaporean Minister for Foreign Affairs, and Retno Marsudi, Indonesian Minister for Foreign Affairs. Working alongside Economic Development Board (EDB), SGTech invited more than 120 guests from Singapore to Nongsa, Batam to witness the prestigious ceremony
The event started with a traditional dance, followed by a welcome speech by Mike Wiluan, President Director of Infinite Studios.
The Tech Park aims to build a bridge of digitalisation between Singapore and Indonesia, Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi highlighted at the event.
In his speech, Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan said that Singapore companies have been investing in Batam for years. The Nongsa Digital Park creates a mutual win-win agreement between the two countries. He hopes to see an expansion of the infocomm sector that would strengthen the digital economy, with a rise of the number of start-ups in 2020.
The event included presentations by Glints and Citramas on the hiring of talent and development of the Nongsa digital ecosystem. Guests were given a tour of the offices and facilities, followed by a networking session.
