Go International: Vietnam’s ICT and Cloud Landscape

On 29 Oct 2020, SGTech invited Enterprise Singapore (ESG) and VNG Cloud to share on the opportunities in Vietnam and how Singapore companies can partner VNG on potential collaboration opportunities that Vietnam’s digital transformation provides.

Key Takeaways

Mr Yeo See Kiat, Executive Director of SGTech, gave the welcome address and noted that more than 50% of our members are already operating in Southeast Asia markets. He shared that Vietnam has consistently been an attractive country for companies for backend development centres and is also a rising consumer market.

Mr Lee Pak Sing, Global Markets Executive Director of Southeast Asia Division and Executive Director of Urban Solutions & Infrastructure Services Division at ESG, continued the webinar by highlighting the accelerated digitalisation in Singapore, especially for sectors such as healthcare, manufacturing and retail, due to COVID-19.

Mr Leon Cai, Regional Director (Ho Chi Minh City) at ESG, provided a comprehensive overview of the Vietnam market. He discussed how Vietnam’s inert favourable conditions, such as political stability, investor-friendly government policies, strategic location and its young and educated population, poises the Vietnamese economy for strong rebound and continued growth post-COVID-19.

Mr Vu Minh Tri, Vice President of VNG Corporation and CEO of VNG Cloud, gave insights into the Vietnamese tech landscape and provided examples for potential collaboration with Singapore companies.
