On 15 Jul 2019, SGTech held a seminar on “Resolving Cross-border Technology Disputes Through WIPO Mediation and Arbitration” to learn best practices in dispute resolution.
Mr Jonathan Kok of RHTLaw TaylorWessing covered the first topic, “Common Issues and Dispute Resolution Options”. Disputes may be resolved more smoothly if the parties in a contract discussion are conscious of the possibility of a dispute arising in the future, and agree upfront on how it should be resolved. Other considerations include intellectual property rights, governing law, and available dispute resolution forums (a Court of Law, arbitration, and mediation).
